The Melanin Unicorn Podcast
Behind the Mic
A new chapter begins! Season Two of the Melanin Unicorn Podcast drops this Monday, and I couldn't be more excited to reconnect with my tribe after our hiatus.
This season comes with a transformative mindset shift that changed everything for me. After struggling with perfectionism during Season One—constantly rearranging my recording space and stressing over background noises—I received clear guidance to simply start. Those passing cars you'll occasionally hear? That slight clicking in my voice despite regular water breaks? They're now badges of authenticity rather than flaws. As I've come to embrace: "It is better to be done than perfect." This liberating philosophy has allowed me to focus on what truly matters—creating meaningful connections with you.
At its heart, the Melanin Unicorn Podcast remains dedicated to fostering a vibrant community and sisterhood among Black women worldwide. Our digital gathering space transcends geographical boundaries, connecting sisters in the US with those abroad through shared experiences, hearty laughs, and sometimes, collective healing through sorrow. Each episode creates room for both vulnerability and strength, authentic expression and deep listening. We're building something beautiful together—a space where every Black woman can feel seen, heard, and valued. So mark your calendars for Monday, follow our Instagram page for updates, and remember as we journey through Season Two together: you are that woman. Have you found your tribe yet?
Hello, my tribe. Just some quick notes before our first episode for season two drops this Monday. Okay, so, number one there will be times in the episodes where you will hear cars going by. Unfortunately, the way my room is set up, you can't get around it. Before, when I did the first season, I used to rearrange, rearrange. It was crazy, and so I didn't do it this time because the Lord just said just start, don't do the rearranging, because it throws you off, it gets you frustrated and then you, you will not want to do what I am calling you to do. That's number one. Okay, number two Sometimes you may hear like a clicking in my voice, even though with each section I would pause and do like a music interlude to drink some water.
Speaker 1:You may still hear the clicking, but again, that's OK, because you know what. It is better to be done than perfect. All right, that's number two. Number three is this we are going to have a great time here. We're going to have an amazing and awesome time. There will be some laughs. There will be some laughs, there will be some sorrow, but all in all, the point of this podcast being created is to create the community and the sisterhood with my black sisters, and it doesn't matter where you live, right? Um, it doesn't only. I'm not only speaking to my sisters here in the US, but I'm speaking to my sisters who are abroad.
Speaker 1:So, again, just a few quick things, um, that I wanted to put out there. I feel like I'm forgetting something. I feel like I'm forgetting something. I feel like I'm forgetting something, boy, what am I forgetting? What am I forgetting? Okay, so we talked about the car noises, the cars going by, talked about. Sometimes you may hear like a clicking. No matter how much water you drink, ladies, when you're doing a podcast, your throat will begin to get dry. I drink a lot of water, um, but, yeah, I think that just very well, be it, um, and if I remember, I will drop it in the comment section of the Melanin Unicorn Podcast Instagram page. All right, okay, ladies, speak to you later. Have a great day. I love you and remember you are that woman. Okay, all right, talk to you soon. Bye.
